A former employee of NBC News that the allegations of rape against Matt Lauer went public for the first time Wednesday posted a Twitter message later, thanking those who supported the decision to go forward with his story.
Brooke Nevils, 35, who admitted to Lauer raped her in a hotel room at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, also excoriated Lauer in a letter to NBC News, called Lauer written denial of the charges "a case study in blaming the victim."
"There's Matt Lauer that millions of Americans watching on TV every morning for two decades, and there is Matt Lauer this morning trying to bully former colleagues in silence," wrote Nevins, in part, according to NBC News. "His open letter is a case study in blaming the victim. ... I'm not afraid of him now, in spite of threats, intimidation and predatory tactics to embarrass and I knew he would (and now have) tried to fight me."

Various are the first to report the details of the upcoming book "Catch and Kill," Ronan Farrow reporter covering the recent rape allegations against Lauer, 61-year-old former "Today" host who was fired in 2017 after being accused of sexual harassment.
According to reports Variety, Nevils said Farrow that Lauer forced himself on him and anally raped but acknowleged that he and Lauer continued relationship after returning to the US

After the story broke Variety overnight, Lauer former "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie and Hoda kotb voiced their support for Nevils in the event Wednesday morning.
"This is shocking and terrible, and I honestly do not even know what to say about it," said Guthrie. "I know it was not easy for our associates Brooke to get ahead of it. It is not easy now, and we support him and every woman who came forward with the claim. And it's just very painful. For all of us at NBC who was on the show 'Today ', is very, very difficult. "
Lauer, who left the public spotlight since his dismissal, denied Wednesday that the meeting described in a new book Farrow is rape. He admitted to having an extramarital affair with Nevils but said their relationship truly consensual.
In a long letter obtained by Fox News, Lauer said that in a hotel room in Sochi, "Brooke did not do or say anything to object. He certainly did not cry. He is enthusiastic and willing partners. "The letter also indicates that Nevils said Farrow that he has reached out to Lauer several times after their meeting in Japan and even met him at his apartment in New York to continue the affair.

NBC chairman Andrew Lack said the network does not know the behavior of Lauer with Nevils until the day before he was fired in November 2017, Lauer said in his letter that he has been admitted to a meeting with the management of NBC but at no point were told that Nevils categorized as rape. He also said that the public silence since his dismissal had been a mistake.
After the rape, Nevils described the relationship as "truly transactional" and said he was afraid Farrow Lauer potential influence on his career. Lauer pushed back, writing that even though they work for the same company, they work in a completely separate department and he was never in a position to review the job.
